I stand below the levee
Building fires for the cavemen
Drenched in moonlight
I turn away from them
I disobey them silently

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

And I tear down the castle walls
In front of nobody and my pity
I cut the ancient tree in half
Just to see it whole again

Dear despair that so encompasses
You put the dagger in me
You I strode and still do
'Till the earth swallows me

You brought life and death
Without asking
And with sheer prejudice
I embrace you
